Cyclone Nagris Devastates Myanmar
This month a violent cyclone
(cyclone Nargis) swept through Myanmar
killing nearly 22,500 people, leaving them destitute and homeless. Numbers are estimated to sore over 100,000.
The deadly cyclone, which occurred over the
Bay of Bengal, hit five divisions and states - Yangon, Bago, Ayeyawaddy, Kayin
and Mon, of which Ayeyawaddy and Yangon sustained the most casualties. Myanmar
declared the five divisions and states as natural-disaster-hit regions a day
after the cyclone hit the country.
With this extreme
devastation to over 1 million people, families suddenly find themselves fragmented, without their loved
ones, without their homes, and without electricity or a proper water supply.
The cyclone has leveled and
littered the country with destruction. Pray with us for the government to lift
restrictions on humanitarian aid. Also, join with us in providing financial
relief as WorldServe works under constraints to alleviate untold damages and
suffering to the people in
