"Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest." - John 4:35

WorldServe had the pleasure of meeting with Pastor Lorenzo, a living example of a captive set free. Once a powerful Spiritist priest, he is now on fire for God and passionate about spreading the Gospel of Christ. His zeal for evangelism envelops his church and its local vision. With the blessing of God and help of local missionary teams who visit homes door-to-door to start prayer cells and house churches, he has planted 37 churches.

Ripe for Harvest

Pastor Lorenzo and his teams began their outreach on the first day of a new year. Lorenzo divided his community of 6,500 people into seven strategic districts and then the local missionary teams fasted and prayed for seven days for the first district. During the second week, the missionary teams began visiting every home in the first district. In the first two days of home visits, 131 people came to Christ. On the third day, another 30 accepted Him as their savior. Pastor Lorenzo commented, "Even the Spiritists had been spiritually prepared for our coming and surrendered to Christ, one after another."

Workers in the Field

Pastor Lorenzo and his teams planned to finish visiting every house in the first district and begin hosting small, home-based Bible studies for new believers. Then, they would start visiting every home in the second district and provide similar support to new believers there.

Pastor Lorenzo noted that the success of the local missionary teams has also created a great need for Bibles and support material. He said to us:

"We are seeing so many new converts coming to Christ that we have no Bibles or New Testaments to give them. We have very little discipleship materials to train them. Those would be our areas of greatest need. We are seeing such a hunger for God yet have so little to spiritually feed these converts. Can you help us?"

WorldServe invites you to partner with us in providing Bibles and discipleship materials to Pastor Lorenzo's teams and other Cuban missionaries.
