Bible Distribution
WorldServe Ministries is unique in that other ministries often "outsource" to us when they are ready to mobilize Bibles into a restricted area. We work with Christians in the underground church who risk their lives daily to share the love of God and His message. We are passionate about helping people who treasure God's Word. By supporting WorldServe, you can be confident that your donations are maximized for ministry potential and God's Word will placed directly into the hands of those who are waiting.
Bibles: The Great Need In China
Millions of Chinese believers wait for God to answer their prayers and provide them with a Bible. Countless numbers have copied it by hand. Many have been jailed for transporting scriptures to underground churches. Still others carry in their pockets a single page from a Bible, which is all they own to sustain them spiritually. The Bible is a restricted book in China, and the need for Bibles far outweighs the supply. Through WorldServe's distribution of Bibles, believers are able to own a copy of God's Word without having to register with the government or endure questioning that risks exposing their underground church.
- Most Christians do not own a Bible
- One must register to purchase a Bible
- Only 70 places to register in 3.5 million square miles.
- The underground church has 80-100 million members
- Only 2.5 million official Bibles printed in '02 and '03
Answering Prayers in Rural Cuba:
For Cubans who live in urban regions and who can afford the purchase, the Bible has become more available in recent years. However, the church planters working in rural areas of every region still report extreme shortages. WorldServe has a unique opportunity in this country because we have been given needed permissions to provide large quantities of Scriptures. They are imported openly and received and distributed with government authorization.
In some areas, as many as 90 percent of church attendees have no Bible of their own. Providing scriptures to these believers is as much a joy for the giver as it is for the receiver, as we see them thank God for sending His word into their lives.
Since November 2005, WorldServe and its partners have been able to provide Cuban believers with:
- 100,000 complete Bibles
- 100,000 New Testaments
- 500,000 individual Gospel of John books
- 56,000 Most Important Story Gospel booklets for children
- Thanks to your generous contributions, we have recently reached our goal of providing 200,000 children's Bibles for the country of Cuba.
Donate $25 USD/$30 CDN to provide five Bibles.
- 70 to 90% of Christians do not own a Bible
- Average Income – $15 USD / month
- Cost of a Bible: $5
Reaching Vietnam with God's Word:
The government of Vietnam also currently regulates the printing of Bibles, restricting the numbers of Bibles printed to small batches. These Bibles are usually first made available to registered churches, leaving few Bibles for believers in the unregistered churches. There are multitudes of believers who meet in churches who have not been granted official "registered" status, therefore these believers have little or no access to Scriptures. WorldServe works with both registered and unregistered churches so that God's Word may be readily available.
- 276,000 decisions for Christ last year
- Only 30,000 official Bibles printed last year
Ethiopia: An Opening Opportunity
Through church planters and local believers, WorldServe has been able to distribute God's Word in Ethiopia for many years. Our work in Ethiopia began 25 years ago when we helped to fund the translation, printing, and distribution of the Amharic Bible. As we increase contact with these local churches, we also have an open door to respond to their need for scriptures. Currently, 15,000 Bibles are being printed in Ethiopia in the Amharic language.
- Average Income – $9 USD / month
- Cost of a Bible: $5
